6-Six 2005
6-Six is a horror movie.
The picture shown is a poster, not the cover picture of the DVD.
Whilst there are cover pictures available, they have the vendors' name across them, and the cheapest vendor doesn't have a suitable picture to use.
Synopsis -
Fai (Intira Charoenpura) is a girl who’s mysteriously connected to the number “6″, which is related to her bad luck.
On the night before her 24th birthday (2+4 = 6) , her friends come to celebrate.
Ong (Watcharachai Sataphitak), one of her friends has a knowledge of horoscopes and discovers the snake star in the sky, which rarely appears in rainy season.
It is a sign of bad luck that could claim their lives, but Khan (Ray Macdonald) insists to everyone that this is absolute nonsense and wants to prove it true.
Following Khan’s belief, all 6 friends head to a desolate mansion where it is rumored there are approximately 6 coffins lying somewhere in the mansion.
They come face to face with supernatural events that culminate in their ultimate fear.
Comprehensive review (none available on the Net)
I have seen this film and can recommend it to anyone into strange and quirky films. With regards to Asian cinema then this is definitely up there with some of the weird and wonderful Japanese horror that has been getting produced recently. Extract from Avistaz movie forum.

I-San Special 2002
I-San Special aka as Isan Special with the literal translation of it's title from Thai being "Night Of The Full Moon", is a fantasy drama.
Often fondly mentioned on forums, but with name forgotten, many try to track down this movie again.
This is the first time I have come across it with English subtitles, and these days it is not available in Thailand.
Synopsis
En route from Bangkok to Nong Bua, a small town otherwise known as I-San in Northwestern Thailand, a bus is traveling on its normal route. On this night of the full moon, however, the typical journey is anything but usual.
The passengers become the characters of a Thai soap opera whose scripted drama unfolds as the bus travels east, interrupted only by the reality of a gas station stop and other usual roadside diversions.
At first glance, the film looks as if it is divided into two parts: the soap-style acting on the bus, and the documentary-style story telling of the bus passengers off the bus. As the film goes on, links between these two worlds unfold - the world of a harsh reality and the world of a surreal soap.

Sagai United 2004
Sagai United is a comedy, and though there is no YouTube video of, it has a lot of mentions on the Net.
Synopsis -
A soccer philosophy has it that every underdog has its day. This year King's Cup tournament proves that true, when
a bunch of unknown players called Sagai United join the competition under the supervision of Paotu, an ex referee who was forced into retirement after getting involved in a gambling scandal.
Sagais, or Ngor, are a primitive, jungle-dwelling tribe who are neither fond of either traveling great distances or socializing with outsiders.
But this time the 11 Sagai tribesmen are making a trip of their lives from the remote Tarnto district in the south of Thailand to Bangkok in the hope of winning the King's Cup.
The new team, Sagai United stun the crowds with their weird scoring techniques.
Their eccentric style of playing becomes a hot topic among the journalists who finally invite them to appear on every TV channel.
The final match is nearing, and Sagai United have to face their archival, the favouite team, who re tipped by all soccer gurus to win the championship.
Doesn't this remind you of "The Iron Ladies"?

Nong Mia 1991 aka Song of Chaophaya & Song For Chaophaya
Nong Mia - a social issues movie directed by Prince Chatree Chalerm Yumkol and is the old movie featured on this site.
It is a re-make of his 1978 movie.
But any movie from the Prince Chatree is bound to be a good movie, and Wise Kwai holds this movie in high esteem.
The Chaophaya or Chaophraya is the river that runs from tributaries in the north of Thailand, and flows through and beyond Bangkok, often causing flooding in the monsoon season.
Synopsis - From Thaiworldview.com
This sad story relates the story of a man moving from the countryside with his family to earn a living in Bangkok. They are forced to live in a slum. He has two kids and has to work hard on construction site to support them. His daughter sells flowers on the street. His son helps his mother to prepare the flowers for sale.
They have a third child. The family borrows money to build a house, and the grandfather is also joining the family in Bangkok.
The man becomes a fisherman and has to leave home from long periods. His wife has an affair and gets pregnant. Her husband expels her from the home.
Meanwhile, his daughter is having an affair with a young man and he also expels her from the home.
The fishing boat he bought is caught in Cambodian seas and he is sent to jail for 6 months.
The grandfather injures his back and can no longer walk properly.
His son is sent to a youth detention center, due to him robbing metal to buy medicine for his grandfather.
Feeling useless, the grandfather commits suicide.
When the fisherman is released from the Cambodian jail, he finds his family is destroyed.
Certainly a lot of social issues in the one movie!

Hoedown Showdown 2002
Hoedown Showdown 2002 is a movie about loog thung aka luktung - "Thai country music", a music style that originated in Laos and came to Thailand with farm laborers from Laos.
Thailand adopted loog thung with a vengeance, - stylizing and commercializing it.
It spread to Bangkok, and indeed all of Thailand. Now, there are radio stations which play only loog thung music.
Many westerners may not like this style of music, with it's soothing rhythm, - but with varied tempo.
But many do, and this music style is addictive.
The two major record labels GMM-Grammy and RS Promotion and many small labels have stables of popular loog thung singers recording continuously.
Synopsis -
This movie is a first for Thai cinema, as it is the first time a Thai movie uses an age old part of Thai lore and history: luktung, or country music.
And not only one, but many of Thailand's best and favorite luktung singers/musicians appear in this warm and endearing comedy about suburbanites pining for their old, glorious rural days.
All the characters involved love, indeed are obsessed with country music.
These people come from all walks of life, have different kinds of jobs, but they all have one thing in common: they want to be famous singers.
It so happens that a contest is to be held, and the winner will be the lucky recipient of one million baht.
The contest is being organized by a kind old man whose wish is to see all lovers of luktung unite and sing, before he dies.
It looks like he might get his wish, as people from all over the country flock to Bangkok to try out, all with different motivations and plans for what to do with the money.
Let the music begin!
The movie was directed by Bandit Thongdee

Sherry Ann 2002
Sherry Anne is a murder drama based around an actual case.
Synopsis -
Sherry Ann can at best be described as a film that tells a story of corrupt people and shows cracks in the Thai police and judicial systems.
The case in question was that of 16-year-old Sherry Ann, a beautiful Thai-American teen, who was found dead in the woods outlying Bangok in 1986.
A man and his gang were arrested, but this Thai Don Juan was ultimately released from prison, leaving his four men to go to court and face the brunt of the charges.
All four were sentenced to death. After spending more than 6 years in high-security prison, the Crime Suppression Police reopened the case based on the suspicion that the men were innocent.
The reopening of the case led to the redemption of the four men, but not without cost: one died in prison, two died shortly after, and the last was left a cripple due to the brutality of the police while incarcerated.
The search for those guilty continued …
Starring Roongnapa Brooke and Chadoporn Rattanakorn

Body Jumper 2002
Body Jumper 2002
Body jumper is a horror ghost movie with a difference, it is a comedy, and was doing seriously good business when it was released.
This movie has a lot of Thai slap stick style humor, which one has to accept is standard form in Thailand. It lacks the sophistication of "western" humor.
One of the main actors from The Iron Ladies has a major part in this movie.
This is one of those movies released in Thailand, with English subtitles. Hence, the price will be cheapest from there, and there is no point in providing more than the one vendor, as the price will include airmail postage.
The DVD is a little hard to navigate at the beginning, as there is no English language in the set up menu. But with a bit of experimentation, you will succeed in getting the subtitles playing.
Synopsis -
2000A.D. a Thai entrails hungry ghost, haunts Sam Kotr, a small village in Roi Et Province.
One by one, the men in the village fall victim to her insatiable appetite. An eerie silence grips the fear stricken village as no one dares venture from their homes late at night. Banding together, the villagers bring in an exorcist to rid them of Pob's wrath.
As a new school year begins, a student club volunteers to aid rural development project in Roi Et province. Its members include Kom, Fah , Wu, Ger, Isablla, Pim , Krating, and Nidnoi.
Upon arrival in Sam Kotr, they are struck by a sense of unease, stemming from the eerie silence. They spend their days working in the village and relax at a waterfall when evening arrives.
Unbeknown to them, Pob's hunger has been stirred.
She possesses Ger, and travels back to Bangkok with the other students.
For a short while, she's enthralled and engrossed by the bright lights of Bangkok. But soon enough she searches for new victims.
Ger turns on her sex appeal to seduce one man after another.
As the man returns pale and jaundiced, his friends become concerned and pursue their nagging doubts to discover his liver missing.
So, the hunt for Pob begins. ................
